Five word sentence dialogue

I received a writing prompt to write a dialogue between two people, but the catch is none of the sentences can be more than five words long. I thought it sounded like a good challenge, so I'm going to give it a shot. And the poem I wrote last time ended at five lines, I had nothing else to say. This time, I'm going to write a little bit more. The setting I'm assigning myself is two hospital employees meeting at the break room.

B: Hey Joe.
J: Brent, how's your day?
B: You know Mr. Singh?
J: Who's that?
B: He's in 209.
J: Oh he has cirrhosis.
B: Exactly.
J: What about him?
B: Well he wants Jack Daniels.
J: Excuse me?
B: A large bottle of it.
J: But drinking got him here.
B: It relaxes him.
J:  What did you tell him?
B: That I'd hook him up.
J: Why would you enable him?
B: I have a plan.
J: This should be good.
B: The bottle won't have alcohol.
J: What will it have?
B: Apple juice.
J: Because they're the same color?
B: You're catching on.
J: They kind of smell different.
B: Eh, it'll have the residue.
J: He will catch on.
B: As sick as he is?
J: You're just fooling him.
B: Think he'll fall for it?
J: Don't count on that.
B: Should I just get Jack?
J: You cannot be serious.
B: Maybe I'll dilute it.
J: It doesn't matter, it's wrong.
B: Not to get him drunk.
J: I would hope not.
B: Water and a splash.
J: It won't satisfy him.
B: Cold turkey can be harmful.
J: Well, that's fair.
B: Gradually decreasing it might help.
J: It still doesn't feel right.
B: How do I help him?
J: You really want to?
B: What will really help him?
J: Not giving into him.
B: You make it sound simple.
J: Isn't it?
B: You don't know him?
J: What should I know?
B: Long story.
J: Think I'll need a drink?
B: Maybe.
J: Kelly's Pub?
B: Sure.
J: I'm thinking Jack and Coke.
B: Good thinking.

A Sunday kind of poem

I had a conversation with a lady that I met on Saturday. We're both members of a local writing group and this was our first chance to get to know each other a little bit. We talked about a lot of things, but writing didn't come up as much as I thought it might. She asked what kind of writing I did and I told her about Yelp, bout my blog, and about my college sports summaries. But she has a little different mentality. She is active duty in the military, sells real estate, and likes writing scripts and poetry. I've not been one to think of these huge writing projects as something to undertake. Writing a script or a play or something like that seems out of my realm. But maybe I should give it a try. It's a good thing to push our minds and learn what we're capable of doing. And sometimes those skills need to be cultivated and developed. So I'm going to try to do that.

It's a Sunday here and after being out all day yesterday, I'm taking a day to recover and refresh. I think some creative writing will be a good idea. The only time I will be leaving my apartment is to go running in the gym. And while the Solomonster wrestling podcast is playing in the background, let's see what I can come up with.

Down the way, I see new roads for me to explore
What might I find?
Waterfalls, obstacles, and streams
Creatures, mud, and dreams
I've got a new pair of shoes for the job

New Year Coming

Well I'm 30,000 feet above the ground, probably around West Virginia or Pennsylvania. I'm on my way to NYC. This will be the first NYE I've spent there and no, I'm not going to be in Times Square. I've been talking with a girl since November 22 and tonight I get to meet her. We have a crazy amount of qualities and interests in common. Mets, wrestling, New York, part Italian. We've been talking literally every day and I like getting someone to share everything with. The thing that makes me uneasy is she seems pretty abrasive. Not to be, but in general. She comes off as pretty angry, cursing a lot, dealing with depression, and isn't really open to going to church. It's one of those things that I could see working if one or two things were different. But hey it's a weekend, let's see how it goes. I can't deny that with the recent pregnancies and engagement announcements I've seen, maybe I'm looking for a brief escape.

This flight has been bizarre. First I couldn't find the gate for ten minutes. Then the flight was delayed thirty minutes, and that quickly escalated to an hour. The odd part was the boarding. Four standbys, including me, showed up, out of the ten who were listed. The gate agent just put all of us right into first class! Bring on the red wine!

I don't know what it is about a night flight. It just gets me feeling very reflective, kind of sentimental. Puts me in the mood to play a sad song on my iPod and have a drink. And the odd thing is that I feel good right now, maybe I'm just trying to unwind and relax.
