Out of titles

Well, another 3-day weekend comes and goes and that's the last one for a long time.

Eric Mangini is now coaching the New York Football Jets. Excellent. 35 years old. A supposed genius. We shall see. If nothing else, it takes Belichick's prodigal son away from Foxboro. And of course, in response, Belichick bars Mangini from entering the Patriot offices to collect his stuff. Real classy Bill. You've really matured since you quit on the Jets. What was he going to do, steal Scott Pioli, Richard Seymour, and the entire offensive line?

This is a long term move to me. The Jets will probably not win more than 6 or 7 games next year. But at least there's stability. Hopefully he won't try to play a New England 3-4 defense because he clearly does not have the personnel to do so. I hopes he just plays to the strengths of the players he has, which Herman didn't initially do. One thing though. There are about 8 or 9 head coaching vacancies in the NFL. If this guy is such a great, can't-miss coach, why did nobody else have him on their interview list?
